Hosted by the Kurdistan Center for Arts and Culture in partnership with Goethe-Institut Irak and the University of Sulaimania.
A program combining learning, creative production and KCAC’s archives.
This intensive 10-day workshop invites participants to explore fundamental graphic design methodologies through the KCAC archive. Sessions will examine language and typographic systems developed for Kurdish dialects, while exploring the relationship between Kurdish history, identity, and printed media.
Led by four international design practitioners – Moritz Schottmüller, Emma Singleton, Sean Yendrys, and Ghazaal Vojdani – participants will collaboratively design and produce a print publication.
Who can apply?
We are seeking 20 designers, artists, researchers, and creatives interested in interpreting the KCAC archive through graphic design methodologies.
Applications are welcome from participants residing in all cities in South Kurdistan – accommodation and transportation will be provided for a select group of participants.
Submission requirements
- Interest in graphic design, typography, collaborative bookmaking, and experimental approaches to visual communication.
- Curiosity about KCAC archive, publishing, and Kurdish printed history and identity.
- English language proficiency, as the workshop will be conducted entirely in English.
